1105 West Peachtree is Changing a Full City Block
Google is set to make 1105 West Peachtree its Southeast headquarters, claiming five floors of the planned 31-story office tower. The Smith, Gambrell & Russell law firm is also taking five floors for its new offices. Also on the docket is a 178-key Marriott Autograph Collection Epicurean Hotel that Selig reps announced in October.

The Works Welcomes New Tenants
The Works welcomes new retail tenants Scofflaw Brewing, Chattahoochee Food Works, and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q. All are slated to open by the end of 2020. Joining this list are two office tenants, Conisus and Uppercut.

The Works at Chattahoochee
Selig Development announces The Works at Chattahoochee, an 80 acre mixed-use development in Atlanta's Upper Westside. The Works will convert the area's low-rise brick warehouses into 600,000 square feet of office space, 500,000 square feet of retail, 500 residences, a 200-key boutique hotel, and 13 acres of greenspace. The project will be delivered in phases over the next ten years, and Phase 1 is already underway.

Helping the Community
Ben Massell, with help from the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, secured the the Morris Hirsch Clinic, a center that provided outpatient medical and dental services to those unable to afford care, a new home on 7th Street in Midtown Atlanta. In honor of his involvement, assistance and financial generosity, the clinic was renamed Ben Massell Dental Clinic.

Ben Massell made one fortune, lost it all in the depression, and made another one after the war. A 1959 AJC profile read, “His career is like Atlanta’s History, both got burned, then built anew and agreed they had done better the 2nd time.”

Merchandise Mart
Merchandise Mart: Ben Massell provided a second layer of financing ($300,000) to John Portman to build the Mart. Portman moved his tenants to the Mart from the Belle Isle Building (where Georgia Pacific is located today and the Lowe’s Grand Theater stood, site of Gone With the Wind opening)
