Veteran Atlanta real estate development companies Carter and Selig Enterprises will team up to develop the City Center project for Sandy Springs.

The Sandy Springs City Council approved the move June 17.
The City Center project aims to transform parts of the aging Roswell Road corridor into a more walkable district. The area being redeveloped is a 14-acre block bounded by Johnson Ferry Road, Roswell Road, Mount Vernon Highway and Sandy Springs Circle. It will include a civic/cultural center, mixed-used development, parking and green space.
The project comes almost nine years after Sandy Springs officially became a city. Sandy Springs also makes up part of the largest office market in metro Atlanta, known as the central Perimeter, an area that houses the headquarters of United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS) and Newell Rubbermaid Inc (NYSE: NWL).
Sandy Springs and other suburban Atlanta cities have seen the success intown areas have enjoyed in luring more investment to urban, walkable districts where people can live and shop closer to their jobs.
