Selig’s top priority is his relationships

To say that family is important to Steve Selig is a major understatement.

“I would say family comes first, second, third, fourth and fifth and then everything else comes after that,” Selig said. “To me — and it may sound a little trite because most people say this — but I can assure you, family is so far first in importance I don’t even know what’s second. I am blessed to have 14 grandchildren. I am blessed to have a wonderful wife and a wonderful sister. I have five great kids. We just have a very loving, very close family.”

Those aren’t just empty words for Selig, according to his son, Scott Selig, vice president of acquisitions and development for Selig Enterprises Inc., the family’s real estate company.

“Family is the most important thing to my father. His days revolve around his children and his grandchildren. There is no event and there definitely is no distance that is going to keep him away from a soccer game or gymnastic meet, a school play or grandparents’ day,” Scott said. “I have seen my father travel halfway around the world and only stay for 24 hours because he refused to miss a special event for one of his family members. His love and his passion for his family is the foundation for who he is.”
