As the Atlanta BeltLine snakes further throughout the city, real estate owners are updating their properties to make them more accessible by pedestrian and cyclists on the multi-use trail.
Atlanta-based Selig Enterprises plans to construct a 105-foot pedestrian bridge connecting Ansley Mall to a future section of the BeltLine’s Northeast Trail. The backside of the shopping center is adjacent to a planned 1.2-mile segment of the northeastern path, which will eventually connect Piedmont Park to MARTA’s Lindbergh Center rail station.
Slated to open in late 2023, the bridge is part of a larger improvement plan for the 16-acre retail development at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive. The firm is in the conceptual stage of adding an outdoor space to serve as an entry into the BeltLine, improve programming and bolster retail and restaurant offerings.
