10,500-seat cricket stadium proposed in LaGrange

Atlanta Business Chronicle – The world’s No. 2 most popular sport is coming to West Georgia.

The 45-acre plot of land next to Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange has sold to an investment group that plans to build a 10,500-seat cricket stadium there. Selig Enterprises sold the land for an undisclosed price to the founders of DAS Cricket Academy and NJ Blackcaps in New Jersey, the latter of which became the Atlanta Blackcaps when it joined the United States Premier League last year.

A stadium project of this magnitude would immediately cement Georgia as a destination for high-level cricket, potentially boosting international tourist spending and giving the state a foothold among the country’s 30 million estimated cricket fans.
